It’s our first ever “show on the road” – live from Wagoncon 2018 in The Dalles, we’ve brought the crew from all of our shows together for a multi-show celebration!
We open with our drink of the evening: Xander’s personal recipe for “The Desert Storm” cocktail, featuring Arak, orange juice, and grenadine. We then fire off our discussions with a pretty passionate conversation about greenways, bike lanes, those confusing “green boxes” around town, and the outright lies that are “Bike-Friendly!” living developments in the infrastructurally-corrupt city of Portland. Hashtag #fuckPBoT! In our nerd-talk segment we discuss the controversy behind “loot crates” in video games. In our bar-talk segment we lament the loss of good bars, and share stories of some of those we miss the most. We close out with some personal talk about the road we’ve traveled thus far with our podcast, and our feelings toward the future.
For our third bonus Character Jam episode, Poppy joins us again as we make characters for the recently-kickstarted “Tales from the Loop” RPG. Listen along as we make a new group of kids to play through a fantastical 1980s America that never was. And be sure to check out all the inspirational artwork from Simon Stålenhag!
Welcome back! This week Dr. Xander Gerrymander was unable to join us, but we’re also joined by two guests from our Monday night gaming group, Christina and Mike. They brought delicious whiskey sours with them, made with Rebel Yell Kentucky Straight Bourbon.
We’re back with another awesome Character Jam bonus episode! This time we attempt to make characters for the complete exercise in hilarious frustration that is everyone’s favorite hand-written RPG, Human Occupied Landfill (HoL). Join us on a hilarious ride through our misery as we jam out a pair of “heroes” for the late 90s post-Vampire middle finger of a game that is HoL. We are now forever scarred, and you can be too!
Today we are again joined by Poppy as we talk about some rather passionate subjects! We open by uncorking a fine bottle of Tears of Vulcan wine, and discussing our experiences with wine in general. For our Talk of the Road, we get pretty heavy on the subject of Helmet laws and responsibilities, before diving into the experiences of being a Total Noob at the role-playing game table. the final portion of the show is devoted to our thoughts on the Tears of Vulcan after an evening of drinking it, and even more discussion on our various loves (or distastes) of wine of all price ranges.
Welcome to our first episode of BDaB Character Jam! This is the first of a planned series of bonus content for the Bikers, Dice, and Bars podcast! In these episodes we break out various tabletop role-playing game and get hands-on with their character creation processes. We record these after our main show sessions, so we’re all usually pretty sauced by the time the game hits the table, which means that our filters are almost nonexistent. For this first episode, we are making characters for the popular “new old school” role-playing game, Dungeon Crawl Classics! And joining us this time is our good friend, Poppy Beaujolais, who we expect to hear more from in the coming weeks.
Our third episode of our brand new show is live! In this episode we start with a pretty passionate discussion about the “Motorcycle Wave” and what it means to us. Following that we discuss our experiences with the Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG, and Xander tells us about an awesome video game called _Life is Strange_. We close out the show with an in depth guide on how to get the most bang for your buck when drinking at a dive bar. This episode rounds out our three-episode launch day bracket, and we hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoyed recording!
Hello friends, we’re back for an exciting second episode, hooray! This time around our new drink of the evening is the “uncertain enjoyment” of the Crownberry. After managing to somehow stomach this bizarre concoction, we talk about perceptions of cyclists in our town pf PDX and beyond. In the nerd section we discuss two upcoming conventions here in the Pacific Northwest that we are all pretty excited about. We close out with discussions of our favorite local dive bars, and the different features that we each feel are required for a bar to be rightfully bestowed that label. Oh, and Dr. Gerrymander has some “choice words” for JJ’s character somewhere in the mix…
It’s our first episode and we’re thrilled to be here! We open with our first drink of the series, the solid dive bar classic of a Jack and Beer Back. After that we move to talking about the bikes we ride and the bikes we’ve lost, how we met, and the games that started our nerdly hobbies. Wrapping up the episode is a conversation of our first drinks, and notes on our continued excitement for the sessions to follow.
