We’re finally back to doing another Robotech episode, and this time we’re taking a deeper look at the awesome Cyclone. These soldiers with their transforming suits of motorcycle armor are just about the coolest damn things ever made, and you get to play one! We also talk about some of the extended properties around the Cyclone, including the lamentably awful Xbox games. Give us a list, then let us know your favorite versions of the Cyclone!
Our trek through the Rifts World Book series continues with World Book 2: Atlantis! Another fantastic entry in the new (at the time) Rifts game line, this book gave everyone their first actual look at the foul Splugorth, who would still be recurring villains three decades later today. Atlantis has so much to offer, so if you’re not yet familiar with it, give us a listen!
In this episode we talk (and argue) about pizza. Apparently some guys from some place or something wrote some ridiculously expensive snobbish books about the best pizza in the country, and apparently they say Portland wins. As if! Anyway, if you want to listen to us argue about pizza and lament the loss of one of the best places in town, this one’s for you.
In this episode we’re having a longer discussion about one of Palladium’s more notorious game mechanics: Mega-Damage. What is it, how does it work, what do we think about it, and what are our house rules? Give us a listen to find out, then drop by our Discord server and tell us your own house rules.
Responding to a request from our listener “jonesy” we are taking a deep look at a somewhat more obscure title from Palladium: the Splicers Role-Playing Game. In this Cronenberg-meets-Akira-meets-Gore-Police body horror setting, bio-organic supermen fight a losing war against a world-dominating Robot AI bent on extermination of the entire human race. Give us a listen, and then drop by on Discord and talk with us about your favorite Splicers game stories!
Palladium’s role-playing games have always been – and probably will always still be – our biggest RPG loves. But at the same time we were really getting into them, there were a number of other 1990s-era RPGs which had a huge impact on our imaginations. In this episode, we’re taking an aside to talk about the biggest of those other games that also helped shape us into the tabletoppers that we are today.
Now we dive into the line of spin-off “Dimension Books” for the Rifts Roleplaying game, starting with the official first of that line: Wormwood! Kicking the line off with a resounding crunch, Wormwood is an epic heavy metal, good vs evil, “hold a candle against the great dark tide” kind of campaign setting. There’s a lot here to talk about, so give us a listen and then let us know your favorite parts of this weird action horror game world!
Let’s face it: we have a problem. It’s an addiction, and a fierce one. As long as our Palladium collection is incomplete, so are we. Need more! In this episode we talk about our growing collections of Palladium books, and the persistent bug that is the urge to keep growing them. How has the collecting bug hit you since the pandemic began? Join our discord and let us know!
Rifter Issue #4 is a damn good one if you’re a fan of Palladium Fantasy, Nightbane, and Rifts. There a whole lot of great content here to digest, so if you’re curious about its content, give us a listen!
