Inspired by the artwork of Simon Stålenhag, the works of Steven King, and more than a little Stranger Things throw into the mix, Tales from the Loop takes us to a 1980s that never was, filled with weird robots, mysterious plots, and the bizarre side effects of living in a town with a state of the art particle accelerator. So join us for an advance look into the new book, and stick around for the sometimes-deep but often-hilarious adventures in our own techno-magical version of Klamath Falls Oregon, 1986.
Back when JJ, DXG, and I started this variety show project, one of the ideas that we had for filling time after recording an episode was to keep drinking while trying to make characters for the many different RPGs sitting on my gaming shelf. We called these “Character Jams” and they started pretty early on in our show. While we’ve had a blast each time we’ve recorded one of these Jams, and occasionally joked about how fun a campaign with the characters would be, we never had actual intentions of taking them any further than the char-gen process. After all, there are so many games to jam on, and we wanna get to all of them someday, right?

JJ and NPC hit up the recent Gamestorm convention here in Portland, OR, and managed to grab some great interviews with a few of the passers-by, including the director of the convention itself. It’s the long awaited “Whiskey with Matt Buckley” bonus episode! Back in September, NPC, Poppy, Dr. Gerrymander, and Just Jacob sat down at 4K Ranch for a special curated tour of Matt’s stunning Irish Whiskey collection (after a fun day of eating, exploring, and shooting). Matt is one of the co-founders of the amazing Wagoncon gaming convention here in the Columbia Gorge, and as part of this episode we dig a bit deeper into the roots of the con, and what lies in its future. Matt then educates the crew about the wonders and history of The Water of Life, all the while plying them with a series of incredible distilled spirits. We hear how someone with a severe allergy to alcohol ends up having a collection of the finest product of Ireland.
With Xander out due to illness, NPC, Just Jacob, and Poppy spend an evening drinking Kalimotxo and talking about their experiences at the recent Wagoncon event in The Dalles, OR.
