After a lot of listener requests, we’re again taking a look at other Palladium RPG properties. Since there is a handful of them that the two of us are sadly not as well-versed in, we’ve invited our friend and fellow Breakfast Puppy host “Just Jacob” to join and talk about them. First on the list is Heroes Unlimited, Palladium’s classic take on superhero comics-style role-playing.
Our journey through the core Rifts RPG OCCs (occupational character classes) continues! This time we’re talking about everyone’s favorite chemically-fueled super-soldier: the Juicer! These guys are a lot of fun, and we really hope you enjoy listening to us talk about how damn awesome it the class is.
We’ve made it to episode 50! Huzzah! To celebrate we’re doing a longer episode, talking about the default villains of the Rifts RPG: the Coalition States. Love ’em or hate ’em (or love to hate ’em!), they are a hallmark of the setting, and there’s just _so much_ lore on them to devour. Listen in as we talk about our takes on the faction, their core classes, and ways to involve them in campaigns.
Continuing through the core line-up of Rifts RPG character classes, in this episode we focus on the de facto “wizard” class of the game: the Ley Line Walker. Join us for a chat about some of the underpinnings of the Megaversal magic system, including a look at the Line Walker’s alter ego, the Line Rifter!
IN RIFTS YOU GET TO PLAY AS A BABY DRAGON. YES, YOU HEARD ME: A BABY DRAGON. The should be all I need to say, but fortunately there’s more than enough awesomeness for us to devote an entire OCC Spotlight episode to it!
Our OCC Spotlight series continues as we take a gander at another, ahem, iconic character class from the fantastic Rifts role-playing game. The CK is a true knight-errant for the modern post-post-apocalypse, a wandering ass-kicking do-gooder respected across the Megaverse, and rightfully so. Give us a listen as we talk about what makes this class great!
We’re continuing our look into the Rifts OCCs with the skill-heavy Rogue Scholar. This is yet one more “iconic” class from the game, and it’s a damn good one. We talk about the changes to the character class across the game’s rules editions, and what you can expect if you play one.
We’re back from an unexpected short “deal with life issues” hiatus! This episode is our first listener-response episode, based on a question sent to us by a fan asking how we handle Unskilled skill checks in our games. I couldn’t find actual printed rules for this, so we’re talking at length about how we do it in our home games. and give some tips on how to adapt our methods to yours.
In this issue of the OCC Spotlight series, we’re looking at another core (and iconic) Rifts character class, the Psi-Hound – better known as the “Dog Boy.” This is NPC’s favorite class, hands down, across the entire Rifts catalog. We talked about Dog Boys a bit in our character creation series, but now we’re here to give it a deeper dive!
Palladium’s games almost always have a built-in system for driving your characters bonkers. We’re here to look at that appropriately-named “Insanity” mechanic, and talk about its various (sometimes troublesome) incarnations throughout the years.
