With an SSH-6 attached to your H5, H6, or Q8, you can capture dialogue with the mid (center) mic, and then blend in the desired amount of environmental sound captured by the side mic in post production.

What that video doesn’t tell you is that if you get the official zoom mid-side mic decoder VST plugins for PC and add them to your DAW, you can take the recorded files from this mic and then manipulate the sound balance even further, no live fiddling necessary! It’s probably the most useful field mic we own.
