Moving forward with our time capsule review of the long-running Rifter magazine, we now look at the contents of issue #5. This one’s got a little something for almost all the major Palladium systems save for Beyond the Supernatural. Give us a listen then drop by our Discord server to let us know your favorite parts of this issue!
We’re back with another Character Jam! This time we’re doing another DCC spin-off, and it’s a glorious one: Blackout in Crater Valley! It’s a game about feeding a bunch of 1980s teenagers to a Halloween Nightmare, and it’s a perfect new addition to what might hopefully become a long tradition of running DCC games on the spookiest night of the year. Give us a listen and laugh along at all of the awesome new character options in this Stranger Things-esque adventure module!
Back after another unexpected break, we continue our ongoing OCC Spotlight series with a look at yet another “iconic” character from the Rifts RPG: The Borg! AKA the “Combat Borg” if you’re only familiar with the Ultimate Edition. This nigh unstoppable powerhouse of murderosity has been a go=to favorite of long time players for decades, and in this episode we’re here to tell you why. We spend time comparing the renditions of this class across the two editions of the game, and also dice deeper into some role-playing inspirations for players wanting to bring a Borg to the gaming table.
Xander recounts his recent experiences encountering a whole new trend of armed private security guards working the Old Town Portland nightlife.
We’re finally back to doing another Robotech episode, and this time we’re taking a deeper look at the awesome Cyclone. These soldiers with their transforming suits of motorcycle armor are just about the coolest damn things ever made, and you get to play one! We also talk about some of the extended properties around the Cyclone, including the lamentably awful Xbox games. Give us a list, then let us know your favorite versions of the Cyclone!
Our trek through the Rifts World Book series continues with World Book 2: Atlantis! Another fantastic entry in the new (at the time) Rifts game line, this book gave everyone their first actual look at the foul Splugorth, who would still be recurring villains three decades later today. Atlantis has so much to offer, so if you’re not yet familiar with it, give us a listen!
In this episode we talk (and argue) about pizza. Apparently some guys from some place or something wrote some ridiculously expensive snobbish books about the best pizza in the country, and apparently they say Portland wins. As if! Anyway, if you want to listen to us argue about pizza and lament the loss of one of the best places in town, this one’s for you.
In this episode we’re having a longer discussion about one of Palladium’s more notorious game mechanics: Mega-Damage. What is it, how does it work, what do we think about it, and what are our house rules? Give us a listen to find out, then drop by our Discord server and tell us your own house rules.
